AIT students visit Baku International Multiculturalism Center

Students of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) visited Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC).

Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of Baku International Multiculturalism Center, discussed the existing multicultural environment in Azerbaijan during the meeting with students.

Ravan Hasanov said that the state policy implemented in the international relations and religious field is based on international legal norms and rich historical roots. He noted that the current level of tolerance in Azerbaijan indicates the outcome of the state policy and attitude treating all citizens equally regardless of their religion, language and ethnicity.

He also noted that multicultural values have been conveyed to us from our national leader Heydar Aliyev and have been the state policy as well as way of life in Azerbaijan.

R.Hasanov stressed that our primary goal is to maintain tolerance, protect cultural, religious, linguistic diversity in accordance with the idea of Azerbaijan, promote Azerbaijan as the center of multiculturalism as well as study and promote current multicultural models.

Ravan Hasanov gave information about the history and activity of Baku International Multiculturalism Center. Noting that the subject of Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan is taught in 22 countries around the world, the Executive Director said that young people studying this subject are invited to our country. He emphasized that these students attend the summer and winter schools organized by the BIMC.

The meeting continued with discussions around the topic.

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology implements various activities to develop younger generation in a patriotic spirit and familiarize them with the tolerant environment and multiculturalism which is an integral part of state policy.
