A conference on Heydar Aliyev’s Policy and Religious Education was held at AIT

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology held a conference on Heydar Aliyev’s Policy and Religious Education dedicated to the 96th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event started with an introduction by AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov emphasizing incomparable services of national leader in the development of national and spiritual values. He noted that the State Committee on Religious Associations was established by national leader Heydar Aliyev’s Decree dated June 21, 2001, for the regulation of state-religion relations and support for freedom of belief in the country.

Jeyhun Mammadov outlined national leader Heydar Aliyev’s contribution to the protection and development of tolerance traditions. He emphasized that freedom of belief was maintained with national leader Heydar Aliyev’s support.

The Rector further stressed that President Ilham Aliyev, worthy follower of Heydar Aliyev’s policy, continues this noble mission with great insight and success. He said the establishment of Fund for Propagation of Spiritual Values by President’s Decree dated October 10, 2017, and establishment of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology by the Decree dated February 9, 2018, are far-sighted steps in the regulation of state-religion relations.

Nazim Mustafa, Department Head of Presidential Library, research fellow at the Institute of History of ANAS, noted that Heydar Aliyev is regarded as an important personality not only in Azerbaijan but also in the entire Islamic world. Mentioning national leader’s special contribution to the establishment of relations with both Eastern and Western countries, Nazim Mustafa emphasized that Heydar Aliyev maintained the development of political, economic and cultural relations of the country. His name is the source of pride for the country. His incomparable services in the development of the country will live in the memories. This memory will be passed down to younger generations. The memory of the great leader will always be commemorated and honored.

The conference then continued with various panel discussions.

The panel on Heydar Aliyev’s Policy and Religious Education discussed the topics such as The Role of Heydar Aliyev in the Development of Religious Tolerance Traditions in Azerbaijan, the Founder of Modern Development in Azerbaijan: Heydar Aliyev, Unique Politician Heydar Aliyev, Heydar Aliyev and Promotion of National and Spiritual Values among Youth, Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Development of Libraries, Heydar Aliyev and Religious Policy and Heydar Aliyev’s in the Restoration of Religious and Historical Monuments in Azerbaijan.

The second panel dedicated to Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Development of Religious Tolerance Traditions in Azerbaijan discussed the topics Azerbaijan as One of the Centers of Multiculturalism, Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev and Tolerant Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Protection of Multicultural Traditions, Heydar Aliyev’s Services in the Protection of Multicultural Traditions, Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Formation of Islamic Traditions in Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev’s Value of Islam, Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani Multiculturalism.

The event concluded around the discussions on the topic.
