Wikipedia Methodical Center starts its activity at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology

On the initiative of the Central Scientific Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Wikipedia Methodical Center (MEC) starts its activity at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology. The volunteers of the newly established center will be the participants of the Wikipedia MEC training center. They will create and edit articles on religion and related topics on Wikipedia.

AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov met with the volunteers of the Center and wished them success. He said that the launch of the Wikipedia Methodical Center at the Institute is of great importance in terms of promoting Azerbaijani truths, tolerant and multicultural environment as well as publishing various articles concerning theology. J. Mammadov noted that Wikipedia is an important encyclopedic resource for the modern world. “We must be active to convey Azerbaijani truths to the world through this means. Wikipedia gives us new opportunities for the activities I mentioned.” He also advised students to be active in the projects aimed at improving their knowledge and skills.

Wikipedia Methodical Center includes teaching, study of international experience, monitoring, consulting services, information security, promotion, scientific research areas. Volunteers of the center will prepare various articles on the history, culture, national and spiritual values of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology implements various projects aimed at ensuring the active participation of students in public activities, increasing their personal skills, intellectual level and polemic abilities.
