AIT holds a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) held a meeting with Nasser Abdul Kareem Abdul Raheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Azerbaijan.

Welcoming Mr. Nasser Abdul Kareem Abdul Raheem and the meeting participants, AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov mentioned the high level of relations between Palestine and Azerbaijan. The Rector touched upon the state-religion policy formed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan. He stressed that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva continue this direction successfully. Emphasizing President’s attention to cooperation between Azerbaijan and Muslim countries, the Rector said that the country attached great importance to Islamic solidarity, multiculturalism and protection of national and moral values. Mentioning the activities and goals of AIT, J.Mammadov said that the Institute is interested in cooperation with world universities.

Nasser Abdul Kareem Abdul Raheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Azerbaijan, delivered a speech at the meeting. The Ambassador noted that Azerbaijan is one of the most dynamic countries in the world which has signed great projects and is developing its regional areas along with the capital city.

Ambassador Nasser Abdul Kareem Abdul Raheem said that relations between Palestine and Azerbaijan are long-standing, and that these relations were further strengthened with the opening of the Palestinian Embassy in Azerbaijan in 2011.

During the meeting, the Ambassador discussed the short history of the Palestinian problem and the prospects for peace in the Middle East. Speaking of the past and present problems, Nasser Abdul Kareem Abdul Raheem gave detailed information about the history, several aspects and the current state of the Palestinian problem and mentioned the attitude of several international organizations and foremost countries.

At the end of the meeting, several issues were discussed and participants’ questions were responded.
