13 May, 2019

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) held a seminar on Ethical Behavior with the participation of Gunel Safarova, Executive Director at Young Citizen Public Union.

Ahmed Niyazov, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies, welcomed seminar attendees emphasizing the role of regular roundtables, trainings, seminars and meetings in the development of students’ intellectual level and enrichment of their spiritual world.

Emphasizing the relevance of the topic, Ahmed Niyazov said ethics is one of the largest parts of philosophy covering human morality as well as human activity, objectives, aims, behavior and values. He noted that ethics is one of the oldest forms of social conscience. Ethical behavior regulates human relations as well as the relations of humans with society and state.

Gunel Safarova, Executive Director at Young Citizen Public Union, gave detailed information on the topic. She noted that moral activity includes honesty, truthfulness, respect for other people, respect for individual rights and other behavioral norms. Behaviorial norms are reflected in the relations of humans with one another, society, social structure and labor. These characteristics differentiate social behavior from other regulatory norms, especially law. Like legislative regulation, moral regulation means conscious learning of requirements of social behavior by individuals.

Seminar continued with discussions around the topic.
