AIT held a seminar on the History of Antisemitism in Europe: From Antiquity to the Present

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology held a seminar on the History of Antisemitism in Europe: From Antiquity to the Present in the presentation of Said Musayev, researcher from the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS.

Ilkin Alimuradov, Head of the Department of Languages and Social Sciences, welcomed the event participants and noted that the Institute carried out much work on the education of students. He stressed the relevance of the topic from the aspect of the studies on history of religions. Emphasizing that Judaism has ancient history in the counrty, Ilkin Alimuradov noted that Azerbaijan is a model of multiculturalism and tolerance in the world.

Said Musayev, researcher from the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS, delivered a speech on the History of Antisemitism in Europe: From Antiquity to the Present. He mentioned the lifestyle of Jewish community in Europe and problems they faced.

S.Musayev spoke briefly of Sephardi and Ashkenazi Jews (European Jews) which are two different subcultures of Judaism. Emphasizing that the worldwide Jewish population is about 16 million, he outlined the history of Jewish communities.

It was also noted that Azerbaijani Jews are far from Hasidic Judaism and reformism.

The seminar continued with interesting discussions.
