AIT instructor attends international conference

Associate Professor Anar Gafarov, Instructor of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, Senior Researcher of ANAS Institute of Philosophy attended the international conference on Hazrat Mevlana and the Problem of Devotion in Different Cultures dedicated to the 746th anniversary of the death of great thinker of the Islamic world Mevlana Jalaladdin Rumi held jointly by Selcuk University and Atatürk Cutural Center in Konya, Turkey.

The conference was attended by the scholars from different countries including Azerbaijan. It started with the speech of Adem Uzun, Deputy Director of Atatürk Cultural Center and continued with the speeches of Ali Temizel, Head of the Mevlana Research Institute; Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kağan Karabulut, Assistant to Rector at Selcuk University; Prof. Dr. Kadir Güldiken and Prof. Dr. Hacı Ahmet Özdemir, Konya Member of Parliament.

Associate Professor Anar Gafarov delivered a speech on Analysis of Mevlana’s Works from the Aspect of the Source of Morality. A.Gafarov analyzed Mevlana’s thoughts on morality from the metaphysical, epistemological, psychological and sociological aspects and interpreted the problem of the source of morality in terms of philosophy and religion. Analyzing Mevlana’s thoughts on the relations of reason and revelation, he discussed the source of moral propositions in great thinker’s philosophy from metaphysical, epistemological and psychological point of view.

During his speech, Associate Professor A. Gafarov mentioned metaphors from Mevlana’s Divan-i Kebir, Mesnevi and Fihi ma fih.
