AIT instructor delivers a speech at the international conference

Associate Professor Mammadali Babashli, Instructor of the Department of Languages and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT), Head of the East-West Department of ANAS Institute of Oriental Studies, has attended the International Academic and Educational Conference on The Spiritual Heritage of Muslim Theologians in the Context of the 21st Century Problems organized by the Dagestan Humanitarian Institute and St. Petersburg University in Mahachkala, the capital of Dagestan, Russian Federation.

The conference organized in the frame of a federal program implemented to educate professionals with profound knowledge of Islamic history and culture, discussed the study, promotion and translation of the rich spiritual heritage as well as opportunities to benefit from this heritage as a response to the challenges of the globalized world. The two-day conference was attended by prominent scholars and experts from Moscow, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, the North Caucasus republics, Novosibirsk, Volga and Volgograd regions as well as countries such as Azerbaijan, Egypt, Jordan and Yemen.

65 speeches were delivered in three sections in different halls, and interesting discussions were held. Associate Professor Mammadali Babashli attended the section Spiritual Heritage and Media: History and Modernity and delivered a speech on “The Role of the Media in the Spiritual and Moral Development of Modern Azerbaijani Family”.

Associate Professor M.Bashasli mentioned the importance that Azerbaijani people attached to family and marriage, the experience of living together with representatives of three generations involving grandparents, parents and children based on the principle of respect for adults and love for children. He also informed the participants about state care for the issues such as family, women and children as well as the activities implemented by relevant agencies in this direction. He shared his opinions on the current situation and media activities concerning family values, the only refuge of humanity.

The conference was finalized on the second day with a roundtable on Derbent, The Pearl of Islamic Culture, and interesting presentations of experts in the field of interethnic and interreligious relations.
