Students of Islamic Studies major at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) visited Heydar Mosque

18 March, 2019

Students of Islamic Studies major at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) visited Heydar Mosque named after national leader Heydar Aliyev. The students attended Wahdat prayer organized at Heydar Mosque. Regardless of their sects, all Muslims come together and pray in this ceremony.

Wahdat Prayer at Heydar Mosque has already become a tradition. This is a message of solidarity and peace to the modern world where religious intolerance, racial discrimination and islamophobia are widespread. This message serves to enhance the influence of Azerbaijan throughout the world as the center of tolerance and multiculturalism.

The students were informed that Heydar Mosque is the largest mosque in the South Caucasus and was built on the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev. The temple, which was commissioned on December 26, 2014, was built on an area of 12,000 square meters. Every mosque has four minarets, with all the necessary conditions for comfortable usage of worshippers.

During the visit, the Imams of Heydar Mosque held discussions with students about various issues and responded to their questions.

AIT organizes consistent events for the improvement of students’ prospects, their intellectual level, spiritual world, patriotic feelings, social responsibility habits, as well as the development of self-expression skills. Accordingly, the Institute arranged visits to the synagogue of Jews of Europe and Georgia, the village mosque similar to Govhar Aga Mosque in Shusha, The Albanian Church in the Nij village of Gabala, Damirchi village mosque and Shamakhi Juma Mosque, one of the oldest religious centers in the Caucasus within the “Winter School” project in Shamakhi.
