Winter School on Religion, Culture and Society-2 organized by AIT starts

The winter school on Religion, Culture and Society-2 organized by Azerbaijan Institute of Theology in Gabala region, started today.

The Institute staff first visited Heydar Aliyev’s monument in the city center and paid tribute to the memory of the national leader laying flowers at the monument.

Agil Shirinov, Acting Rector Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, spoke at the opening of the winter school and wished success to students. Stressing that the program is a great opportunity for students, A. Shirinov advised them to benefit from this opportunity. He mentioned the importance of the second winter school on Religion, Culture and Society held in Nij village of Gabala and noted that it is of special interest to familiarize with the Udi people living here as well as our ancient monuments in this historical place.

Gunduz Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, spoke about the multicultural environment in our country. He stressed the importance of the winter school organized by the Institute in Gabala in terms of the students’ familiarity with the current tolerant and multicultural environment. G.Ismayilov recommended young people to take advantage of these opportunities.

Robert Mobili, Chairman of the Albanian-Udi Christian community, expressed his satisfaction with students’s visit to Nij village of Gabala. He spoke about the various conditions created in our multicultural country for the Udi people, one the ancient nations in the territory. R. Mobili stressed that Azerbaijan Institute of Theology will be one of the leading educational institutions not only in our country but all over the world, training highly qualified clergy and specialists studying Islam who are deeply knowledgeable about their religion and other world religions as well as ready to protect their statehood.

Taleh Abdullayev, Acting head of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shaki district, said that the winter school will contribute to the development of students’ knowledge and world outlook.

The winter school aims to enrich students’ world outlook and familiarize them with the multicultural and tolerant environment in our country.
