Azerbaijan Institute of Theology held a meeting with Wikipedia volunteers.

AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov noted that the initiation of the Wikipedia Center at the Institute is important from the aspect of promoting the truths of Azerbaijan, its tolerant and multicultural environment as well as creating various articles in the field of theology.

J.Mammadov noted that the use of information technology in the modern world is increasing. He said that being an independent electronic resource, Wikipedia is one of the most popular search engines of our time. There is much to be done. Unfortunately, our enemy skillfully uses this weapon to falsify the truths of Azerbaijan. We should mobilize our strength to deliver and promote the truth of Azerbaijan to the world communityas well as preventing negative efforts. Wikipedia gives us new opportunities for the activities I mentioned.” He also advised students to actively participate in projects aimed at improving their personal skills and knowledge.

Wikipedia Methodical Center started its activity at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology on the initiative of the Wikipedia methodology center of Central Scientific Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Volunteers are writing, editing and publishing articles on theology, Islamic studies and other fields in the Azerbaijani language section of Wikipedia.

The Institute carries out various projects aimed at ensuring students’ active participation in public life, development of their personal, analytical and polemic skills.
