Social Project “Motherland starts from me” has been presented at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology

The social project “Motherland starts from me” has been presented at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) by Zafar Public Union Support for Martyr Families.

The event started with performance of national anthem of Azerbaijan and was attended by representatives of the public and NGO leaders, MPs, families of martyrs as well as the Institute academic staff and students.

Opening the event with a welcome speech, AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov noted that the Institute holds various events aimed at promoting our national and moral values for the younger generation, strengthening their patriotic spirit, love and their commitment for the country. AIT rector mentioned the April battles and noted that participating in such projects, the Institute aims to instill in students patriotic feelings and inform them about the heroes killed in the Karabakh war. Giving information about the Institute’s traditional visit to Jojug Marjanli, the village in Jabrayilli district freed from the occupation, J.Mammadov said that conveying the details of these events to younger generation and their involvement in the social life of martyr families are of particular importance for their growing in a patriotic spirit.

J.Mammadov further emphasized that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, worthy followers of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, always paid special attention to the people who were martyred and lost their health in the struggle of country’s independence. AIT rector also noted that the families of martyrs and disabled people are always surrounded with care and attention, and important measures have been taken to improve their living standards and address their social problems.

Sevinj Orujova, Chairperson of Zafar Public Union Support for Martyr Families, spouse of martyr Colonel-Lieutenant Raguf Orujov, said that the goal of the project is to promote patriotic idea and statehood among young people studying at universities of Azerbaijan, propogate diligence, purposefulness and conscientiousness. It is particularly important for young people be aware of the responsibility for their country.

MP Fazil Mustafa said that the Azerbaijani Army will free our lands from enemy occupation and our confidence is strengthened thanks to the heroes like Raguf Orujov. F.Mustafa stressed the importance of perpetuating the memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.

Historian Firdovsiyya Ahmadova mentioned the significance of instilling love for the country in students and noted that there is necessity for intellectual, professional and knowledgeable youth to discover historical truths, protect our territorial integrity, free our occupied territories from occupation and at the same time to achieve the future development of the country.

Elshad Eyvazli, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Journalists Union, highlighted the special role of these social discussions in promoting patriotism, highlighting the young people’s responsibility to serve their motherland and the noted that the the state treats the families of martyrs with special attention and esteem.

Khatira Valiyeva, Official of the Azerbaijani Community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and Arzu Baghirova, Chairperson of the Regional Legal and Economic Public Association, spoke about the activities of the institutions they represent. They emphasized the significance of such projects for the immortalization of the memory of heroes who died for the protection of our lands and for the development of younger generation in the spirit of patriotism.

The event continued with students’ speeches and and questions around the topic.

At the end, the books reflecting martyrs’ life were presented to the students participating actively in the event.
