AIT holds a seminar on the Triple Approach to Islam: a New Look at the Concepts of Conservatism, Secularism and Nationalism

On April 5, 2019, Azerbaijan Institute of Theology organized a seminar on the Triple Approach to Islam: a New Look at the Concepts of Conservatism, Secularism and Nationalism by Faig Alakbarli, Leading researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS.


Associate Professor Ilkin Alimuradov, Head of the Department of Languages and Social Sciences at AIT, welcomed the participants and noted that consistent roundtables, seminars, trainings and meetings organized by the Institute on a variety of topics play an important role in the development of students’ world outlook. Mr. Ilkin Alumuradov noted that young people should strive for their prospects in order to be professionals of their speciality.


Faig Alakbarli, Leading researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS, made a speech on the Triple Approach to Islam: a New Look at the Concepts of Conservatism, Secularism and Nationalism. F. Alakbarli said Islam was one of the different civilizations in the East. It played an important role not only in the lives of Arabs but also in the lives of Turks, Persians, Slavs and other peoples that accepted Islam. “Islam is not limited to Arabic culture; it is a common religion for all the nations who accepted it.”


F. Alakbarli emphasized that the Turkic nations have made a great contribution to the preservation of Islamic values and its promotion in the world.


The workshop continued with interesting discussions.
