II International Symposium on Islamic Civilization in the Caucasus

On July 11-12, 2019, Research Center For Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in partnership with Azerbaijan Institute of Theology will host II international symposium on Islamic Civilization in the Caucasus.

Research directions of the symposium:
1. The spread of Islam in the Caucasus
2. Islamic civilization in the Caucasus as a research area: Methodological issues, historical sources, documents and artefacts, academic cooperation
3. Islamic policy of Tzar Russia in the Caucasus
4. The influence of Islamic Culture on the traditions of the peoples in the Caucasus
5. Islamic architecture in the Caucasus
6. Islamic art and literature in the Caucasus
7. The role of mosques and madrasahs in the religious education of the Caucasus
8. The development of Islamic studies in the Caucasus
9. The role of Caucasian scholars in the development of natural and social sciences
10. Different aspects of religious, social and cultural life in the Caucasus (social groups, holidays/significant days)
11. Destroyed historical and cultural heritage in the Azerbaijani regions occupied by Armenians: Researches in the direction of preservation and promotion of this heritage in the world
12. Heydar Aliyev’s role in the development of Islamic traditions in Azerbaijan and relations with Muslim countries
13. The role of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the restoration and repair of religious and historical monuments
14. President Ilham Aliyev’s role in the development of tolerance and multiculturalism traditions in Azerbaijan
